Course Objectives The purpose of this course is to examine Turkey's constitutional development from Ottoman State to present day in detail and systematically.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • follow the process of change in the constitutional framework of power relations from the Ottoman Empire to the present
  • Define the fundamental dynamics underlying the transformation of Turkish constitutionalism
  • interpret current law in the light of historical facts
  • compare positive constitutional law with past experiences
  • discuss today's global constitutional problems from a perspective reaching from local to universal
Course Description This course examines the historical origins and development of today's constitutional institutions and rules which are the product of certain historical conditions. In this context, the course is planned to transfer the experience provided by the history of Turkish constitutionalism by a scientific method and thus to complete the knowledge of positive constitutional law.
